House 7D did an English-World Studies Cross Curricular Project on the Middle Ages. Medieval roles were assigned in Mrs. Waldvogel's World Studies classes. Students spent several days researching their roles in Mrs. Zriny's English classes. They then wrote a persuasive essay in English from their medieval character's point of view, persuading the listener that they deserved the privileges they had and why. They also did a bibliography in English classes on the sources they used in their research. In World Studies students used the persuasive essays they wrote in English class to write dialogue for the medieval simulation. Students practiced the simulation in World Studies, brought in props, and performed the simulation on stage in the Village Theater. Mrs. Zriny's English classes learned proper theater etiquette and were the audiences for the simulations that were performed in the World Studies classes. It was a fantastic cross-curricular learning experience!
