This course will familiarize students with the basic principles and use of forensic investigationtechniques in the American criminal justice system. Forensics is the study and application of science to the processes of law. It involves the collection, examination, evaluation, and interpretation of evidence. The focus of the course will be to introduce students to the fundamentals of forensic science: the definition, history and applications in the justice system Units of study will include the principles and technology upon which the field is based and the application of these principles to various components of analysis of crime scene evidence. The course will also include information on the career opportunities and specializations within the field of forensic investigation.
