Prerequisite: LEAP standing or consent of instructor. Junior or Senior standing
Encouraged for all college bound students, especially those students planning on studies in social sciences or business. This class will teach the basic concepts of scarcity, opportunity costs, aggregate supply and aggregate demand. Students will study market structures, economic systems, Federal Reserve system, measuring the economy, money and banking, international trade and the Global Economy as well as current economic challenges. Students will examine the relationship between the government and the economy including the federal budget, fiscal and monetary policy. Several simulations and role-playing will take place during the course. Students are encouraged to take the College Board exam at the completion of the course (Macro-Economics - 3 college credits).
